I joined DMA Law shortly after the merger of Donnelly Adamson, solicitors and McArdles, solicitors as the Practice Manager in 2009. I have over 40 years’ experience in the legal sector, most of which has been in a qualified management role.
My career began in a Newcastle law firm in 1975 as an ‘Office Junior’ moving quickly into a Personal Secretary role whilst balancing the managing of the local office. Over the next 12 years I went on to raise a family, during which time I became a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Secretaries.
Coincidentally in 1990 a trainee legal executive role and a management role were both offered to me. I chose to go down the management route and went back to studying, over 4 years – evening class and distance learning – whilst balancing a full time job and raising my family, to gain a number of management qualifications.
I have experience in People Management, Health and Safety, Project Management, Facilities Management and Finance, and am a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute.
