Our fun questionnaire continues and this month we want to find out a bit more about Debra Taylor!
Debra has spent all her working life in Sunderland and began working as a family fee earner 28 years ago, going on to qualify as a Chartered Legal Executive. She has undertaken all aspects of family law but now specialises with financial matters arising from a marriage or relationship breakdown.
Debra also receives a lot of work from victims of Domestic Violence/Abuse, working closely with and receiving referrals from DV support workers. Throughout her career, she has acted for both applicants and respondents in proceedings for child arrangement orders.

Why did you want to work in law?
I didn’t plan to – I wanted to be a journalist.
For how long have you practised law?
I have practised law for 28 years.
What is your practice area?
My practice area is family law.
What type of cases do you generally handle?
Divorce, financial, private children matters and domestic abuse cases.
What motivates you?
I would be lying if I didn’t say getting paid at the end of every month, but other than that, client satisfaction always has motivated me to do and be better!
If you could job swap with anybody for a week, what would you do?
I would love to be a TV presenter for a week.
If you had to choose a famous person to take with you to a desert island, who would you take and why?
That’s an easy answer: TV and radio presenter Chris Evans. He’s not much to look at but he is very well-read, interesting and funny.
Describe your proudest accomplishments in your career.
Getting to 53 and not having a nervous breakdown (only because Lisa couldn’t fit it in her diary)!
How do you define success?

What are your hobbies?
Cooking, walking and holidaying.
